2) Family Values & Immigration Reform
In recent weeks the immigration debate has
heated up. A few weeks ago, a “secret” White House Immigration Reform proposal immerged
that doesn’t reflect our American values. It asks for the end of family sponsor
visas, fines of $10,000 per individual, and a guest worker program that would fail
to protect workers or provide a pathway to citizenship.
Now a debate in the Senate could set the immigration
reform backwards. We should remind the Senate that family values are American
values, and that family reunification is not negotiable.

workers and future immigrants would be judged based on a “point system” in
which family bonds count for nothing.
- We stand for a straightforward path to
citizenship for undocumented and temporary workers, worker rights,
civil liberties, and family reunification.

It is time for Democrats and Republicans
alike to demonstrate real values and real leadership. The immigrant
community and all Americans are watching.
