With more than 44,000 members, Washington CAN is the state’s largest grassroots community organization.

Together we work to achieve racial, social, gender and economic justice in Washington state and our nation. We believe we can only achieve our goals when people become involved and take action for justice.

As one of the largest grassroots organizations in the state, we work within our communities on a range of issues with the aim of bringing about greater racial, gender, social, and economic equity and justice for everyone. Our Board represents a wide coalition of groups, including labor, senior, faith, and community organizations, working with our field and telephone canvasses to do education, fundraising and activation with our grassroots members and activists across Washington, organizing people and empowering them to take action.

Our strength depends on our members and their involvement.

The mission of Washington CAN is to achieve racial, gender, economic, and social equity in order to establish a democratic society characterized by justice and fairness, with respect for diversity, and a decent quality of life for all those who reside in Washington. We are creating and maintaining a large, strong and diverse statewide community presences of grassroots leaders, community members, friends and allies to fight for these goals.
