WashingtonCAN Announces Endorsements for the 2023 General Election

We are excited to announce our endorsements for the upcoming November 7th general election. This year, we are excited to proudly support candidates who align with our values and are ready to pass policies that improve the lives of their constituents. The endorsed candidates are:

  • Tammy Morales for Seattle City Council, District 2: Tammy Morales brings over 20 years of experience advocating for Seattle's communities of color. Her track record on the Seattle City Council demonstrates a commitment to following through on campaign promises, including protecting immigrant communities and advocating for essential anti-Asian hate programming.   • Teresa Mosqueda for King County Council, District 8: Teresa Mosqueda, who has served on Washington CAN's Board of Directors, is running to improve opportunities for local families to be healthy, housed, and resilient. She shares WashingtonCAN's perspective that community safety is a public health issue and connects crucial issues like healthcare, housing, and living wage jobs to stabilizing families.   • Jorge Baron for King County Council, District 4: Jorge Baron, a candidate for King County Council, District 4, emphasizes the importance of involving those most directly impacted by public policies in the policymaking process. With 15 years of experience as the Executive Director of the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, he is well-equipped to develop and pass equitable policies.   • Deana Knutsen for Healthcare Commissioner in Snohomish County, Public Hospital District 2: Deana's approach to quality healthcare involves building wrap-around services that consider various factors impacting people's health, such as housing, addiction, food, and poverty. She has a successful track record of advocating for patients' rights and affordable, high-quality healthcare during her 24 years as Snohomish's 2nd Hospital District Commissioner.
