Housing Stability

We advocate for housing policies that prevent displacement, protect tenants, and ensure every person in Washington has a safe, stable place to call home.

Advocating for housing stability means confronting rising rents, inadequate supply, and long-standing barriers that disproportionately affect Black, Indigenous, and immigrant communities. By prioritizing affordability, tenant protections, and public investment, we work to build stronger neighborhoods where everyone can thrive.

Housing Stability

WashingtonCAN’s housing stability agenda builds on years of tenant-led victories in Olympia—including statewide right-to-counsel, stronger notice requirements, eviction reforms, and limits on predatory practices that destabilize families. This session, we are advancing transformative housing solutions by supporting HB 1687, Washington’s Social Housing bill. Social Housing creates permanently affordable, publicly owned homes accessible across incomes—removing profit from the equation and putting communities first.

These policies strengthen renter protections, expand affordable housing options, and move Washington toward a future where housing is treated as a human right.
