Seattle Democracy Vouchers Need Your Support

Tell City Council Seattle Elections Belong to THE PEOPLE

In 2015, Seattle voters passed I-122, a WashingtonCAN member-led Initiative known as "Honest Elections Seattle", to reform the way campaigns are typically financed for candidates, including campaign contribution limits for lobbyists and contractors and Democracy Vouchers distributed by the Seattle Ethics and Elections Commission (SEEC) to eligible Seattle residents

Seattle's Democracy Voucher Program is one of the boldest tools in the country for shifting power back to the people—but right now, it’s on the line.

This type of public campaign financing is the first of its kind in the Nation. The property tax that funds the Democracy Voucher Program costs the average homeowner about $8.00 per year and was funded for 10 years.

For the past decade, this program has helped everyday residents run for office, fund campaigns without big donors, and make our elections more fair, accessible, and representative.

Now, we’re fighting to renew funding for this powerful program—and getting past City Council is the first step. They must pass CB 120957 to let voters decide whether to keep the program alive this August.
