Sharing your story is one of the most powerful ways to influence how laws are written, changed, and implemented. When legislators hear directly from people impacted by their decisions, it shapes how they understand problems—and what solutions they’re willing to fight for.
That’s why WashingtonCAN and House Our Neighbors is hosting:
Lobby Day Training #2: Legislative Testimony
Wednesday, December 17th | 6:00–7:30 PM | Zoom
This training will help you understand how legislative testimony works and how to speak clearly, confidently, and strategically with lawmakers. We’ll cover:
How to talk to legislators
The 5-Finger Testimony strategy
Understanding your impact as a constituent
Speaking from a shared narrative
How to sign up to testify and what to expect when you do
Other ways to make an impact: signing in PRO for a bill, commenting on a bill, submitting written testimony
This training is especially important for members planning to participate in Lobby Day on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, January 19th, 2026, when WashingtonCAN and HON members from across the state will meet with legislators to advocate for equity-centered policies. Even if you’re unsure whether you’ll attend Lobby Day, this training will give you tools you can use year-round.
